 | The next morning Turuoka san teached me kenpo (kunfu) which I've been insterested for long time, it was Hakkyokuken! I know this style from manga "Kenji" and Virtua Fighter character "Akira Yuki" and later this kenpo appeared on Shenmue games.
Hakkyokuken translated in Indonesian language as "delapan mata angin" because of eight punches direction! (*based on Kenji. sorry if i'm wrong ^^ ). |
Turuoka san, beside working in game industry also studied kenpo. He mastered in Jeet Kune Do and Torouken. He learned Hakkyokuken from his friend. Sometime ago I was chatting with Hayanon san, and we had talked about our favorite game and it was mentioned to Virtua Fighter and later Kenji. I told her that I was so interest in Hakkyokuken and wanted to learn it since I read Kenji and played VF bout more than 10 years ago. So I was so much excited when Hayanon san said that her husband studied Hakkyokuken.
And so today I started practice Hakkyokuken from Turuoka sensei. The basic of every martial art is "stance a.k.a. kuda-kuda", man! it was painful!!! I havent done sports in more than 5 years so all my muscles got so stiffed ^^...and after that Turuoka san teached me "Shinkyaku" (hentakan kaki!!) Shinkyaku is important in Hakkyokuken. Every punches we throw based on how good our Shinkyaku is. I recommend you to read "Kenji" if you want to know more about this ancient kenpo.
Later in the evening I return to Tokyo with Niken and Hayanon san. We'd like to visit Meteor shop in Kichijoji to see "My Famicom Case" exhibition. But we were too late, so we gave up. And instead went to Shibuya, Hayanon san bought new scanner. Tomorrow she and Turuoka san will go to E3, and Hayanon san wants to make manga during her stays in Los Angeles, so bring some compact gadgets is good choice we think! We had great times together, and I will try practice everyday. Next meeting I want to learn new technique! Oh that day I also learned "Rimon Chochu" and "Saishuu (*see picture above) see more picture here : )
